NAACP building in Peoria vandalized

PEORIA — The building that houses the local chapter of the NAACP was vandalized this week, said its executive director.

The Rev. Marvin Hightower said Friday night members had noticed the vandalized — letters sprayed in insulation foam — on the side of the building and on a window earlier this week. He believed the vandalism occurred sometime between noon Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hightower said the foam, which was sprayed on the building as “HH” and “BS,” remains on the side of the building, but he expected most of it to be removed over the weekend.

So far, Hightower said he doesn’t know who might have sprayed the foam on the building. A police report was filed with the Peoria Police Department, he said.
