Schilling & Bustos debate in Rockford

In the hour debate at the Rockford School District administration building, they touched on talking points about education and health care, the auto industry and the future of the U.S. Postal Service. But the focus of the night was about manufacturing jobs moving overseas.

“Right down the road in Freeport, there are 170 people whose jobs are being sent over to China as we sit here,” Bustos said, referring to “Bainport,” and the planned closing of the Sensata Technologies plant that has become a national rallying cry for Democrats.

Bustos said she blamed the decision, in part, on tax loopholes created by Congress.

“We need to make sure these tax policies, these incentives for companies to ship jobs overseas, go away,” she said.
