Gradutate?? SMDH

“ MATTESON, Ill. (CBS) -- A south suburban high school and a graduation wear vendor are apologizing for an embarrassing typo – but some parents say that is not enough.

As CBS 2 reported last week, the graduation stole that students wore as they received their diplomas at Rich Township High School in Matteson read "gradutate" – with an extra T – instead of "graduate."

Hilarious that they’re going to photoshop the official graduation photos…..like that will cover it.

Sounds like a story line from a Simpson’s episode.

It's so ridiculous, it almost seems like someone's idea of a really bad prank, but I have a feeling it was an actual error someone made inadvertently. I'm not sure which is worse, tbh!

Those things were probably meant to be keepsakes. I think the company that did such shoddy work should either provide replacements or refunds.

before the ceremony, the head piece on the mortarboard fell off. They called the school, and were told they had extras, but that a number of people had the same problem.

Fearing they might run out of spares, my wife utilized her trusty hot glue gun to effectuate repairs. Apparently, the fix was more secure than the spares that were offered.

Typos happen. Mostly their benign, but there's always that instance that will be a true embarrassment.

I put myself through college setting type. Rarely made mistakes but hey, they happened. My favorite, or at least the one that caused the greatest stir, was in an article I set for a community newspaper. The copy was supposed to read that this elderly woman collected antique clocks. That went out to some 80,000 readers.
