Related: About this forumMan attacked young woman who later died
Ugh.According to court documents, Helmon Betwell, 19, told police he had nothing better to do early Tuesday morning and he wanted to get into more trouble. Police said Betwell told officers he did not know the victim and stated she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Betwell told police he was breaking into vehicles in the area of 17th Street and Central Avenue around 4:40 a.m. when he noticed a female crossing the street, according to court documents. Betwell told police he knocked her unconscious and then carried her to a vacant property at 75 W. 17th Street. He told police thats where he had sexual intercourse with her and continued to hit her everywhere.
Dubuque police said a neighbor called 911 after seeing Betwell on top of the woman, pull his pants up and then run away. Police later arrested Betwell at his home on White Street. He appeared in court Wednesday morning where a judge set his bond for $1 million.

This is just so disgusting. And so heartbreaking for the family too.

He'll get life without parole if convicted. Let's hope it's a long miserable life.
I hope he lives a very, very long time. I think that would be worse than the death penalty, having to live the rest of your existence on Earth in a prison instead of a quick send off to the afterlife.

From KCRG;
DUBUQUE The woman police say was raped and killed in Dubuque Tuesday morning has been identified.
According to a release sent Thursday afternoon, the victim was 66-year-old Nancy Ann Krapfl. Police said several factors complicated the process of identifying Krapfl.
She didnt have any identification on her person and had just gone out for a morning routine walk to grab a newspaper or something and probably didnt think she would need an ID for any reason, said Lt. Scott Baxter, adding Krapfl also lacked relatives who lived close by.
The Iowa State Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny confirmed her identity around 1:46 p.m. Thursday, the release said.
