Related: About this forumJust got back from seeing Bruce Springsteen in Des Moines
He brought along a couple fans--some guy named Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.
Got there about an hour before the gates opened, only had a line about 5 blocks long, which before they started letting people in grew to at least 8 blocks before I got in. Wound up standing in the middle of Grand Ave for about 3 hours, talking to people looking for kids, a guy who grew up about 20 miles from me, and just watching the crowd. It was (mildly) an eclectic crowd--black, white, oriental, hispanic, young (babies in arms) to old (at least some gray hair in the crowd besides mine!!).
We were too far back to see well, but I could watch in the cameras of people ahead of me. I never knew there were so many tall people here in Iowa!!
It was great to be there...I see the Omaha paper called the crowd 20,000...and I'll believe it. Definitely have to go vote early tomorrow...at least in small towns it doesn't usually take long.

One thing that I did overhear, in my little area, was Nate Silver's new projections. There was some discussion of that, and it was taken as great news. A little bit of cheering about that.

You were a witness to history my friend (hope you don't mind that somewhat banal phrase). You got to see President Obama's final speech as a candidate. And quite a speech it was. Thank you for the post.
