Former Macomb County employee admits to posting fake prostitution ads
A former Macomb County public works employee made a criminal-court admission that he posted fake online messages indicating two fellow workers were offering prostitution services.
Ken Ahearn, 52, of Richmond, pleaded no contest Tuesday to one count of unlawful posting of a message in exchange for dismissal of one count of the same charge and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
The plea in Macomb County Circuit Court occurred on the day the case was set to go to trial, and five days after Judge Joseph Toia rejected a motion to dismiss the charges.
Between July 27 and Sept. 1, Ahearn attached two male co-workers telephone numbers in online classified ads offering escort or prostitution services and included photographs of unrelated women, according to Assistant Macomb Prosecutor William Harding. Ahearn was charged in mid-September.
