I was wondering how to contribute to defeating the Voter ID amendment in Minnesota -- not defeating it will result in the effective disenfranchisement of I'd guess several percent, of whom most vote Democratic, and obviously making it a lot harder to elect Democratic candidates and to vote in progressive causes. I also figured it was a good "bang for the buck" investment compared to giving to some multi-tens and hundreds of million dollar senate campaign, let alone the billion $ presidential campaign.
There are a number of organizations that I know are heavily involved in this, such as the League of Women Voters, ACLU, Take Action Minnesota, Isaiah, and Our Vote Our Future, but I didn't just want to give to one of these organizations and have it used for purposes other than voter ID. (Sorry, but its a big chunk of money, so if I'm a bit fussy about this, well, again sorry). Anyway, it seems to me that OurVoteOurFuture.org is the best choice. They do a lot of phone-banking on this issue, and they are the ones behind the blue and white sign "Vote No On Voter Restriction www.ourvoteourfuture.org" lawn signs.
They are a coalition of several organizations (scroll down their home page, http://www.ourvoteourfuture.org to see a lot of them), including TakeActionMN, ACLU, LWV, ISAIAH, Color The Vote, AARP, AFL-CIO, MPIRG, lots of unions, on and on. To see the entire list, click on the "About The Campaign" .
Campaign Co-Chairs: Vice President Walter Mondale, Governor Arne Carlson, Dr. Josie Johnson, Congressman Tim Penny

takeActionMinnesota.org would have been my next choice - they seem heavily focused on Voter ID (good).
