Related: About this forumTwin Cities Home to Some of the Most, Least Spoiled Children
http://kstp.com/news/stories/S2646881.shtml?cat=1It says St. Paul parents spend 46% less on their children than the national average, making them second on the list of least spoiled children.
Whereas Minneapolis ranks 4th most spoiled, spending nearly 50% more than most cities.

If you're wondering what city has the most spoiled kids, you'll find them in Manhattan. Madison, Wisconsin was least spoiled, and Nashville was right in the middle.
================
Here we go again.
Someone out of town asked me the difference between Minneapolis and St Paul and what I came up with was that Minneapolis actually has floats in its St Patrick's Day parade and the marchers actually make it to the end of the parade. We do have floats in our neighborhood festivals and of course the St Paul Winter Carnival at the end of January where King Boreas Rex and his entourage are always defeated in a a mock sword fight by the Vulcan crew meaning Summer is on the way.
My youngest son, raised in frugal St Paul really, really wanted to be a Minneapolis kid. I actually found myself saying to him when he was about 17, "why would I want to pay more for something I can get for less? Paying more for something does not make it any better than it is." Being a young father himself now he has reassessed his earlier spending habits. His ultimate Jr High dis was "your mother buys your clothes at Savers...with a coupon...on Tuesdays."

(23,156 posts)1. I don't really think you can make conclusions about
how spoiled a kid is simply by the amount of money spent on him or her. Local cost of living will matter a lot.
And kids can be spoiled by how they're treated, not just what's bought for them.

The survey looked at how much parents spend on their kids, but family therapist Kathleen Mathews with the Washburn Center for Children says there's more to spoiling than just money.
"When I think about spoiling, I think about parents who over-indulge their children and who don't set limits with them," said Mathews.
