Lees Summit woman steals 1.5M from employers
A Lees Summit woman admitted Tuesday that she embezzled more than $1.5 million from two Kansas City-area businesses.
Patricia Webb, 44, pleaded guilty in federal court to three counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. She had been in federal custody after her bond was revoked for unrelated fraudulent conduct.
According to court documents, Webb said she embezzled more than $1.225 million from Garmin while employed there as a senior payroll specialist February 2012 to May 2014. She caused Garmin to send 16 unauthorized automated clearing house payments to her own business bank account, Beauty Within Me.
She also embezzled $302,000 from Black & Veatch, where as a global payroll manager January 2015 to March 2016, she directed unauthorized wire transfers and ACH transactions from the companys payroll account to her business bank account.
