Audit finds Glacier County at $3.9M deficit
A recently released audit of Glacier County for fiscal years 2015 and 2016 has found that it has a cash deficit of nearly $4 million as of late 2018.
the County continues to struggle in its financial management of its operations, auditors said, adding the county had a cumulative negative total of over $3.9 million at November 30, 2018.
The audit by Anderson Bros. of Post Falls, Idaho, was released in December. On Jan. 10, a state Senate committee heard Senate Bill 19, a proposal related to Glacier County that would make counties more accountable for filing accurate financial reports by deadlines.
The eight-page bill surfaced after a 2015 audit found Glacier County had not met its current liabilities, did not follow government accounting practices and violated state and federal budgeting requirements, according to court documents.
