Hundreds of compliance checks happening in Albuquerque

Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said the city is piling together its resources to see if people and businesses are complying with the current health orders. Along with the fire marshal, police officers, city workers from the environment department, planning and zoning, and even parks and recreation, are going out and doing these compliance checks.

“This past week the team has conducted 678 compliance interactions with businesses and individuals, 17 of which have been specific to face masks. Over the weekend we did focus on visiting big box stores and non-essential businesses, whether it be restaurants, making sure they were curbside only. We also went out to make sure essential businesses were complying with the occupancy loads that have been set," Albuquerque fire Marshal Gene Gallegos said.

Gallegos said reports are submitted to the state department of health, who then take over if any legal action is needed.

Keller said it's important everyone follows the current health orders and does their part to slow the spread of coronavirus.
