Subway derailment repairs affect Saturday service

Eyewitness News
WOODSIDE (WABC) -- Local service has been restored on the E and F lines along Queens Boulevard after a subway train derailed in Queens on Friday morning, injuring 19 people. Hundreds of passengers were forced to evacuate through a sidewalk exit.

Authorities say a westbound F train carrying 1,000 passengers happened near Northern Boulevard, about 1,200 feet south of the 65th Street station in Woodside around 10:30 a.m. The first and last cars did not derail, but the middle 6 cars went off the track, officials said.

F trains run on express tracks through that station. The station serves as a stop for M and R trains.

Fire, police and other rescuers moved quickly to help the passengers. Officials said 19 people suffered mostly minor injuries. Four people suffered potentially serious injuries - meaning they suffered chest pains or had trouble breathing. They were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
