Not waiting for Sunday, Democrats launch attacks on likely Republican AG candidate John Cahill

Democrats launched a preemptive strike Friday against Republican John Cahill, attacking the likely candidate for attorney general for his anti-abortion views.

Former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, in a conference call organized by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s campaign, said Cahill’s views were out of sync with most New Yorkers and represent a “step back for a women’s right to choose.”

Cahill, who served as a top aide to former Republican Gov. George Pataki, is expected to announce his candidacy for attorney general Sunday in Yonkers.
