NYC's lever voting machines warehoused... but not forgotten (or unused)

The city’s old-school lever voting machines are alive and well and living in Brooklyn — but visiting the Bronx.

Seventy of the old clunkers will be hauled out of storage for the May 21 board of directors vote at Co-Op City — an enterprise that could run into six figures to elect just five people.

The sprawling complex, home to more than 55,000 people, runs a serious election that costs serious money.

“We have three candidate forums. They advertise in the paper,” William Gordon, the current chairman of the Board, told the Daily News. “They also campaign, [and] they put out flyers.”
