Sen. Chuck Schumer wants landmark status for Jackie Robinson's old Brooklyn home

Sen. Chuck Schumer and other officials Monday called on the city to grant landmark status to the Brooklyn house that Jackie Robinson once called home.

The city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission last year rejected a request to landmark the small red brick house at 5224 Tilden Ave. in East Flatbush because Robinson only lived there for year — and didn’t move in until 1948, a year after making history by becoming the first black major league baseball player.
