A day after Gov. Cuomo warned that five breakaway Democrats who control the Senate with the Republicans will face primaries unless they reunite with the mainline Dems, a coalition began rounding up potential candidates.
Senate co-Leader Jeffrey Klein, who heads the group of dissident Dems, and Sen. Tony Avella are already facing primaries by former Attorney General Oliver Koppell and ex-City Controller John Liu, respectively.
But now names have surfaced to possibly challenge the three other members of the Independent Democratic ConferenceDiane Savino of Staten Island, David Carlucci, of Rockland County, and David Valesky of Syracuse.
The Rockland County Democratic Committee recently made its endorsements but withheld backing Carlucci.
