Rensselaer
The Rensselaer Common Council is expected to vote on a resolution Wednesday night that would support a casino license for De Laet's Landing as a public presentation for an Albany site has been pushed off by the developer.
Rensselaer County political sources familiar with casino developments in East Greenbush and Rensselaer said Tuesday that David Flaum is moving toward making the 24-acre De Laet's Landing on the Hudson River his preferred location for a casino in the Capital Region.
The Rensselaer Common Council is awaiting a final draft of the resolution to consider, City Clerk Nancy Hardt said.
The developments in Rensselaer come as the members of Flaum's team pushing the E23 casino project at Thruway Exit 23 in Albany have been unusually quiet lately.

Our opinion: Given the turn of fortune casinos are seeing, communities need to carefully consider whether theyre worth the risk.
As it comes down to the wire for the Capital Region contenders in the grand casino license competition of 2014, its time for the host communities to say whether they are in the game.
Adding to the gravity of their decision is a new analysis that shows that as casinos have spread around the country, these hoped-for cash cows are looking more like albatrosses. In some cases, in fact, states are having to bail out these enterprises.
The state Gaming Commission, going further than state law requires, says it will defer to local governments on whether they want a casino. At most, one license will be granted in the region. So in coming weeks, town boards and city councils in the would-be host communities will have to act.
