'Micro' parties looking to make a statement in this year's congressional battle

Tom Wrobleski

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Could "micro" parties play a role in this year's battle between GOP Rep. Michael Grimm and Democratic challenger Domenic M. Recchia Jr.?

It depends on how close the race is.

Henry Bardel, a perennial candidate, is already on the Green Party line in the race. Not a lot of folks out there seem to know that the Greens got their ballot status back, but Bardel is running.

And Republican Richard Bell is looking to run on the Libertarian Party line. The party has go out and gather petition signatures in order to get him on the ballot.
