Quinn Blasts Delayed Ambulance Response After Intern Faints

By: NY1 News

Problems with the city's 911 system became the focus of an unrelated campaign event Tuesday in Brooklyn for City Council Speaker and mayoral candidate Christine Quinn.

It allegedly took over 30 minutes for an ambulance to respond after an intern for City Councilwoman Diana Reyna fainted at the Williamsburg event, likely from the heat.

Quinn, who was on the ground caring for the female intern, called Police Commissioner Ray Kelly for assistance.

She says it was because of his help that an ambulance finally arrived.

Can't they revert back to the old system? I don't understand why they needed to "upgrade" the system, the old one worked just fine; it never took longer than a few minutes when I had to call. Once when I was working at Radio City I walked outside of the building during the RockCenter tree lighting and an old woman fell onto the pavement and gashed her head. Now, if you've been around RockCenter on that day you'd know how crowded it could get. I called 911 and they got through THAT traffic and on the scene in less than 7 minutes.

I have no idea why they changed but I would love to know who made money off it.
