SMITHFIELD, N.Y. -- Four people were killed Tuesday in rural Madison County when high winds destroyed four homes.
At about 7:14 p.m. Tuesday a violent storm passed through and tore four homes apart in the area of 4881 Goff Road in the town of Smithfield, about 30 miles southeast of Syracuse.
"A storm came through here and ripped a couple houses totally apart," Madison County Sheriff Allen Riley said.
"We believe we've accounted for all the people in all the houses."
