(10,103 posts)I had to go out today for appointments. It's disgusting; like walking into a wet washcloth and trying to breathe. Storm watch in place, and on its way, apparently. I am now home, the a/c is on, all fans are working, and I'm trying to rehydrate. I swear by the hundred little Gods, I despise this weather.

(26,289 posts)It's 94 with a heat index of 101 and I don't have AC. The rain keeps forming around us, but never quite holds together. I just went out and hand watered my vegetable garden, just in case we get 'skunked' again, with the promised rain and cooler air.

(111,339 posts)Unfortunately, as you guys cool off, we'll be getting back to the mid 90s.
However, the fact that it's a dry heat does make a difference. You still sweat like crazy, but it evaporates and cools you off instead of making you stick to the furniture.

(7,720 posts)A 'cool' front came through Minnsota last night so we're down to 86 from the 90s yesterday. The dew point is down about 10 degrees as well. So, the temp is down, but it's still hot.

I fear all of us need to prepare for these big variations. "All of us" includes electric companies, homebuilders, etc.

(61,698 posts)July-October are hard months on asthmatic kids. Ozone alerts nearly every day in August and September.
Frequently, Halloween is too warm for most costumes.
