Clinton County bans hydrofracking

PLATTSBURGH — Clinton County legislators agreed to ban a controversial natural-gas-seeking method and the disposal of any of its waste in the county.

"I want to thank you for bringing this to our attention," Legislator Harry McManus (D-Area 1, Champlain) told a group of citizens at Wednesday night's County Legislature meeting.

"It became apparent to me that this could affect our county."

McManus and his fellow legislators unanimously agreed to ban the practice of hydraulic fracturing, also known as hydrofracking, within the county.
