Andrew Cuomo helped broker deal between city, charter school head: schedules

ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo played a face-to-face role in brokering the April deal between the city and Eva Moskowitz, head of the Success Academy chain of charter schools.

Daily schedules posted online Tuesday reveal that Cuomo hosted two meetings in his Manhattan office on April 11 and 24 with Moskowitz and First Deputy Mayor Tony Shorris.

Two days after the final meeting, Mayor de Blasio announced a deal with Moskowitz that secured spaces for three Success Academy charter schools that the de Blasio administration — overruling a decision by former Mayor Michael Bloomberg — had decreed should not move into district schools.
