Highbridge Corner Named In Honor Of The King Of The Cuatro

Ogden Avenue and 162nd Street in Highbridge is now known as Yomo Toro Place as the "King of the Cuatro" was honored this weekend in the Bronx.

Friends, family, and fans threw a big block party to mark the occasion in true Latin style.

Toro is fondly remembered by many for his love of his community, and for being a true humanitarian. He was a master of the cuatro, a small 10-string guitar that is the national instrument of Puerto Rico.

"It's emotional for me, it's an honor," said Toro's daughter Denise of the ceremony naming the corner after her father. "My heart is filled with emotions right now."
