Gun stolen from congressional candidate John Katko used in robbery where 2 were killed

Mark Weiner

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - When John Katko quit his job as a federal prosecutor to run for Congress this year, he billed himself as the tough-on-crime, pro-gun candidate who fearlessly took on Syracuse street gangs and put 130 gangsters behind bars.

But the Republican, making his first run for public office, did not talk about his own experience as a crime victim - one he has kept secret for 14 years.

It's a story that ends with Katko's handgun stolen from his pick-up truck, and then used in a brazen holdup and shootout that left two Syracuse men dead.

Katko broke no state or federal gun laws, and he was not disciplined by the Justice Department. But a review of the case shows he likely violated federal policies for the safe handling and storage of government-issued weapons.

discredit, not only Katko's pro-gun credentials, but to show that there are consequences for being a gun-owner - one of which he has failed to uphold and should be held responsible for in the polling places (since he appears to be above the law).

5. AHHHHH! The thug-wannbe Republican who threatened to throw journalist Scotto over a railing?

Grimm had blasted Scotto for not sticking to SOTU questions when he was being interviewed in the Capitol: "If you ever do that to me again, I’ll throw you off the fucking balcony.".

When Scotto defended, asking Grimm about a campaign finance probe, the congressman, presumably thinking the camera was off, went on: "No, no, you’re not man enough … I’ll break you in half like a little boy."

Charming fella. What are his prospects of winning re-election?

shouldn't cast their vote for this unscrupulous, ungentlemanly man. It shouldn't matter if he's a Republican or Democrat. If he can't control himself, he shouldn't be hired for such a good-paying and all-important job. Grimm just doesn't have the temperament. But that's just my opinion.
