Teachout hits Cuomo for Moskowitz alliance-charter schools

Conor Skelding

Zephyr Teachout and her running mate, Tim Wu, appeared outside the NYC iSchool west of SoHo on Thursday afternoon to criticize Governor Andrew Cuomo's education policy on the first day of school.

"Public education is the infrastructure of democracy," Teachout said. "Andrew Cuomo has not visited public schools more than twice in four years. Instead, he's allied himself with Eva Moskowitz."

Earlier this year, Cuomo appeared at a massive rally in Albany hosted by Moskowitz, the C.E.O. of Success Academy charter network, during her battle with Mayor Bill de Blasio over an expansion of charter co-locations. Cuomo later helped her secure protections for charters in the state budget.

line.

I doubt Cuomo will lose, and as much as I hate "protest voting" this seem to be the year for it.

In fact, I withdrew from the Democratic party. I won't be a member of any political party that would have Cuomo as its de facto leader. My only regret is not being able to vote for Teachout and Wu in the primary.
