At his last downstate campaign stop before Tuesday's primary, Governor Andrew Cuomo told a packed union hall in Manhattan why members should support his running mate, Kathy Hochul, over her opponent, Columbia law professor Tim Wu.
"If youre going to hire a lieutenant governor, whos going to be the second most powerful official in the state of New York, it would be nice if they had some experience and knew something about government! said Cuomo, speaking to members of the Hotel Trades Council in Midtown.
Cuomo has managed to make it through the entire summer while barely acknowledging his own primary challenger, Fordham Law professor Zephyr Teachout. But facing the increasingly real threat that he may win in the primary only to see Hochul lose to Wu, Cuomo began campaigning in earnest this past weekend, marching in a Labor Day parade in New York City; and appearing with Hochul in Queens and the Bronx where he touted Hochuls experience and values."
