Teachout… say yes to fully fund public schools/ no to Cuomo corporate school privatization

This Monday, the State Assembly and Senate will be submitting their respective budget bills, containing their school aid proposals. We've heard that their proposals may contain much less than the $2.2 billion increase that is necessary to fund our schools.

But if we all speak up, and tell our Assembly Members and Senators not to settle for less than a $2.2 billion increase in school aid, we can reject Governor Cuomo’s testing and privatization agenda. But there isn't much time to waste--you must act immediately.

Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers have already raised their voices and demanded fair funding to ensure students the quality education that is their constitutional right.

Now it's up to you to contact your Assembly Member, your Senator, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, and Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos. Tell them that the Assembly and Senate must not propose less than the full $2.2 billion increase and must fully reject Governor Cuomo’s corporate reform agenda of doubling down on testing, school closings and diverting money from public education to unaccountable privately-run schools.

New York has a budget surplus and can raise additional revenues by closing tax loopholes that only benefit billionaire hedge funders and real estate barons.
