Cuomo issues sexual harassment guidelines

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo issued an executive order on Thursday directing the state office of employee relations to take over investigations of harassment and discrimination in all state agencies.

The new order, available below, was accompanied by draft materials and guidance on the state’s updated sexual harassment laws. The governor also tapped the state’s chief diversity office and commissioner of civil service to oversee a new workforce diversity and inclusion effort.

The state budget included a “minimum standard” model sexual harassment policy that applies to all employers in New York and required all state contractors to demonstrate they have a sexual harassment policy.

According to a press release, the state is also launching a new website with resources for employers and employees.
