Molinaro: Cuomo won't debate over Crystal Run, will 'soon be indicted'

The Republican candidate for governor, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, is out with a typically aggressive statement Monday afternoon predicting Gov. Andrew Cuomo will “soon be indicted over the Crystal Run scandal.”

Though that’s very far from clear, Molinaro theorizes that the controversy over the major Cuomo donor, whose $400,000 in giving to the governor is the subject of a federal inquiry, is the reason why Cuomo hasn’t agreed to any debates with the Republican before the Nov. 6 election.

“It is my firm belief that Andrew Cuomo will soon be indicted over the Crystal Run scandal, and that he is terrified to speak about the case in a free and open debate forum where he may further incriminate himself,” Molinaro said.

The statement follows a story in Sunday’s Times Union, which cited an email from Crystal Run’s top lawyer concerning a 2015 meeting with senior Cuomo administration health care officials.
