NEW YORK -- Authorities have arrested a man for allegedly threatening New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney over her proposed gun control legislation.
Ronald Buchanan, of Elmira, N.Y., was charged with aggravated harassment and menacing on Thursday. He was held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Maloney said Friday Buchanan "threatened to kill me for doing my job."
She also thanked the NYPD and prosecutors for identifying, arresting and charging Buchanan.

(60,536 posts)but, in all seriousness; this is good news. Now I hope they go after the GOP'er advocating the death of elected representatives who don't vote the way he wants them to.

(11,489 posts)The quote they gave hardly justifies that charge. I've seen much worse than that here in CO go unpunished.

(21,946 posts)doesn't say what method he'd use, kill is kill no matter how it's done. The charge seems to be appropriate as he didn't act on his threat yet.

'According to prosecutors, Buchanan allegedly said in one of the phone calls that the congresswoman "needs to stay away from my second Amendment rights."'
The above is the ONLY quote from Buchanan. If he continued on and said 'or else I'm coming to get you', then that's a threat. Unfortunately, either he didn't say anything else or the article didn't find it important enough to mention.
And stop threatening to kill me.
