New York
Related: About this forumI love cooler Autumn days in NYC.
The leaves changing color and blowing around. Election season in the air. I love this part of the year.

(53,784 posts)living in Vegas now. I remember it would be just around this time of the year that we could hold out no longer in the house wearing sweaters and socks in the evening and have to turn on the furnace. We had fuel oil heating which is pegged to the price of gasoline.
It was when gas touched $4 a gallon back in the 2000s that we realize we would have to spend way too much of our income on heating oil to get thru the winter.
When we bought the house it made sense since oil was under $2 a gallon.
We started then to plan to leave NY. Still miss the seasons though.

(50,130 posts)The singer is actually the famous vocalist Jo Stafford, the pianist is her husband. They made a series of spoof recordings of standard songs. Jo purposely sang out of tune -- horribly off key. And her husband played awful arrangements as the accompaniment, full of piano tricks and gee-gaws. This is one of their greatest hits.

(25,183 posts)I'd swim in your pool! And then I'd top it off by going to a really good Mexican restaurant in your town, the food there is mind-blowing!

(10,337 posts)Which was a true melting pot of cultures. In Tucson, you get the Amaricanized version of ethnic food. Even the Mexican food here sucks and don't even get me started on pizza! Fortunatly, I love to cook so you can still get real Mexican, Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese food at my house. You just can't get it at most eating establisments.

(25,183 posts)But you're right about the pizza. After over six years of living in NY, I can't even stand the pizza when I go back to the Pacific Northwest to visit family and friends.

(25,183 posts)without A/C or heat yet, and yes, the leaves do look great, especially when the sun is shining on the trees against a blue sky. Moved here from the Pacific Northwest about six and a half years ago, and while I do miss things there, the fall here is absolutely beautiful.

(25,183 posts)I don't have that problem, but for my friends who do, it's a good thing!
