Report: More City Police Involved In Shooting Incidents In 2012 Than 2011

NY1NEWS

More city police officers were involved in shooting incidents last year than in 2011, according to a new report.

The New York City Police Department's annual firearms discharge report shows that police intentionally fired their weapons in 45 incidents in 2012, up from 36 the year before, a 25 percent increase.

The number of suspects killed by police gunfire also rose from nine to 16.

That's the highest number since 19 were killed in 1998.
