Mayor de Blasio Calls Veep Joe Biden's LaGuardia Airport Crack "Inappropriate"

JENNIFER FERMINO

De Blasio, speaking at a City Hall press conference on a top-level administration appointment, said as a "proud New Yorker" he was offended by the vice president's blunt assessment.

"[It was] not his finest moment," he said. "I respect the vice president but I think his comments were inappropriate."

De Blasio conceded that the Queens airport - which most New Yorkers would gladly disavow - needed an "upgrade" but said that was no reason to trash talk it.

"The airport manages an extraordinary amount of traffic and the people who work there make it work under very difficult circumstances," he said, adding, "I think it was not the right way to talk about it."

It's the most confusingly designed ( i.e. laid-out) airport I've ever seen. Poor signage doesn't help.

Big Bill shouldn't take it so personally. The Port Authority manages the airport, not the city. The PA is is of course, run as a patronage mill by Cuomo and Christie.

And you wonder why it sucks.
