South Ozone Park fire guts church; 4 firefighters hurt

QUEENS (WABC) -- Four firefighters were injured battling a second-alarm blaze at a church in Queens early Monday.

The flames broke out around 3 a.m. at the Deliverance Tabernacle Church on Sutter Avenue in South Ozone Park.

The fire started in the basement of the church and spread to the first floor.

It took about an hour for firefighters to get the upper hand after they had a little trouble with frozen hydrants when they arrived.
