1 dead after suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at Walt Whitman Shops

HUNTINGTON (WABC) -- One person is dead and 28 others were taken to three area hospitals after a suspected case of carbon monoxide poisoning at the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington.

Suffolk County police responded to an incident in the basement of the Legal Seafood at the Walt Whitman Shops just after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Two people were transported to Huntington Hospital in critical condition. One was pronounced dead on arrival.

Among those treated were first responders, including Suffolk County police officers and members of the Huntington Community First Aid Squad.
