Renee Daily: Don't let fracking destroy N.Y.'s water supplies- editorial

Renee DailyUn

On March 15 at Binghamton University, I stood outside a building where Gov. Andrew Cuomo was speaking. I was there to hold my “Don’t Frack New York” sign.

Next to me stood a couple with two young children who live just over the New York/Pennsylvania border. They came to support us in our quest to ban fracking in our state, so we never have to live through what they are living through right now in Pennsylvania.

Gas wells drilled near their home ruined their water. Every week they need to replenish the water buffalo that now supplies whatever water they need - for drinking, cooking, washing, flushing, everything. Their well is closed forever because their water can never be clean again.Their pond is bubbling with methane, and their children can no longer play or swim in it.
