Battle Of The Bots Heads To Jacob Javits Center

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Robots are invading New York City this weekend.

As CBS 2?s Diane Macedo reported Friday, some of the Tri-State area’s brightest students are showing their creativity in a team challenge that culminates at a competition at the Jacob Javits Center.

Sixty six high school teams will compete in the 14th Annual New York City FIRST Robotics Competition.

We take our Girl Scout troop to the Wisconsin regional championship every year. If you have kids, I highly recommend going. The competition is awesome, and if you want a break you can head down to the "pit" area where the teams have their robots and equipment based. Down in the pit, you can talk to the students and their mentors about the robots, their experiences building and working with the robots, etc. If you have a child who's even remotely interested in STEM type things, it'll be a great experience.

It's really a great time!
