Gov. Cuomo' soon-to-be defunct anti-corruption commission turned over all the information it gathered to US Attorney Preet Bharara, a source told the Daily News.
Bharara asked for the treasure trove of potential corruption leads after Cuomo announced last month he'd be pulling the plug on the panel after the state Legislature agreed to different ethics reforms as part of the new state budget deal, the source said.

(14,498 posts).... it could get interesting if Bharara is serious.
Don't really know much about him or where he's coming from.
Don't US atty's have to be nominated by US Senators?
That would be..... hmmmm.... probably Schumer. Maybe Glliibrand.
In either case, frankly, it's not encouraging.

(14,498 posts)... but I'd have even less confidence in the local borough DA's.
They're products of the system These people in Albany are their buds, homies, mentors and colleagues.
(My jury is still out on your new Bklyn DA. He seems at least willing to make some waves. We'll see.)
Seems like no one's ever actually "picked-up" here unless it's the feds doing the picking up.
Everyone local is a product of the local political culture.

(74 posts)He supposedly was on the short list for USAG when it looked like Holder could be resigning. He also could have eyes on the Governor's mansion if Cuomo can be pushed aside.
Cuomo was never serious about Moreland. The Moreland Commission was more about the initial press releases and Cuomo's desire to bully the Legislature into doing his bidding. Like the State Government generally, Cuomo and his minions have managed to micromanage the Moreland Commission to the point where it has become ineffective and irrelevant. Remember that he also created JCOPE to root out corruption, and that agency is the laughingstock of Albany -- JJOKE.
What Preet should be looking at is Cuomo's meddling with the supposedly independent Moreland Commission.
