Revised carbon monoxide detection bill set to pass City Council Thursday

Jillian Jorgensen

CITY HALL - A bill requiring carbon monoxide detection systems in new buildings or those getting a major smoke detection system overhaul is expected to pass in the City Council Thursday.

"What this bill does is, if you're installing a smoke detector system, or you're completely renovating your smoke detector system, the carbon monoxide component would be mandated as well," Minority Leader Vincent Ignizio (R-South Shore), who wrote the bill, said.
