NC A&T State University Honors The Greensboro Four On The 53rd Anniversary Of Sit-Ins

Greensboro, NC -- On February 1, 1960, four brave NC A&T State University freshmen requested service at the segregated lunch counter of the F.W, Woolworth's store in downtown Greensboro.

After Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair, Jr. (now known as Jibreel Khazan), David Richmond and Joseph McNeil were refused service, they sat at the lunch counter until closing.

The next day, dozens of students from NC A&T and other Greensboro colleges joined them. During the next 10 days, students across the state participated in similar sit-ins. By the third week of the peaceful protests, demonstrations had spread to other states throughout the South.
