NC Tealiban leader Pat McCrory says Moral Mondays protests against GOP are "unacceptable"

A day after a large protest at North Carolina's General Assembly flooded into the halls of the state Senate and led to more than 150 arrests, Gov. Pat McCrory (R) called for an end to the "Moral Monday" demonstrations that have become a serial feature in Raleigh.

"We welcome feedback, we welcome lawful demonstrations, however, we don't welcome unlawful demonstrations, and that should not be accepted," McCrory said on Tuesday, according to WTVD.

The governor went on to say he was not interested in meeting with the organizing groups, which include the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP, student unions and environmental organizations, that have gathered to air their grievances with the direction of the GOP-controlled legislature. While McCrory praised the peaceful nature of the demonstrations, he also told reporters that they were "unlawful" and therefore "unacceptable."

Unlawful you say ?

It seems the list of things that are legal in this country is getting shorter and shorter.

We already have 'free speech zones', I guess 'no speech zones' are coming.

Politicians really don't like to represent 'we the people'.

They have their own agenda and it is not in our best interest.

Peaceful protests on public property is perfectly legal and constitutional. McCrory should be told to " go to hell" via sheer numbers.

In the primary election on May 6, 2008, McCrory defeated four opponents, including State Senator Fred Smith to win the Republican nomination for Governor.[24] During the primary McCrory was criticized for lacking conservative credentials and for the high taxes and large debt in Charlotte while he was Mayor.[25] McCrory countered with negative ads against his foremost opponent, Sen. Fred Smith that inaccurately claimed he ran up state debt in the state legislature.[26]

In the general election, Democratic lieutenant governor Bev Perdue raised $5.6 million and ran attack ads against McCrory, criticizing him on various issues.[27] McCrory later referred to these ads as "shameless, inaccurate, and negative", and in the last week of the campaign countered with his own negative ad in which he proudly claimed to have never run a negative ad, moments before attacking his opponent inaccurately.

I got a call from PPP with questions about my opinion of Moral Mondays. And didn't Turkey's leader recently say something similar about mass demonstrations? That did not go well.
Solidarity.
