Hope to be back in here soon. Going through a tough time. My word on N.C.

My family has been here since way back before the American Revolution. One of my family ancestors was one of the 8 Lords & Proprietors of North Carolina (George Monck-Duke of Albemarle). My family crest is on the current Albemarle Highway down east. With that background I have the following words:

Our family dream has been shattered as much the dream has changed. We most likely will break with our heritage and move to a state governed by the human race for the human race and not governed by the corporations elected by the redneck race (and there is a difference, we of the human race have an intellectual and moral capacity above an amoeba, the redneck race in NC doesn't). Before I leave though, I have plans to be arrested in civil disobedience and then it is on to civilization. We never had the cross gene between Jethro Bodine of the Beverly Hillbillies and the Grand Wizard of the KKK. We have and always have been of an intellectual capacity and moral capacity beyond that and so we will eventually leave for civilization.

See you soon.

Mike

I have a part time home in Harnett County. We bought a spot next to my husbands parents when we retired in 2005.

I always knew I was considered an outcast, being from Utah, but always felt I could hold my own against the less informed, more vocal citizenry that is the small town we live near. With what has been going on lately, I am not so sure anymore.

It is sad to see what this beautiful state has come to.

Good luck wherever you land.

and plan ahead appropriately with your attorney so that you can be released on a personal recognizance bond. However, since you posted your intention to leave the state that option may no longer be available.

and now have my house for sale and have been looking at others. It's a damn shame to have to ignore all the tempting listings a few miles into NC, but recent events have me worried about the state's future to the point that I can't consider moving there. And when a place is so hellbent on self-undoing as to look bad to a Virginian, that's pretty bad. Virginia has its share of crazies and religious extremists but lately we're seeing some possible light at the end of the McDonnell/Cuccinelli tunnel. Alas, I don't see any such prospects for near-term improvement in NC.

Come on up, we need you here.

(by way of explanation-- acquired my username when I had a lake cabin in Warren County I thought I'd retire to-- but didn't.)

Sometimes it's very difficult to have to make a moral decision. I stand up and salute your integrity.
