Reverse Citizens United in NC

A coalition of groups from across the state is seeking a ballot initiative supporting a constitutional amendment explicitly declaring that corporations do not have the rights guaranteed to natural persons and that money is not speech.

Coalition partners:
Charlotte Area We the People (Charlotte, Mecklenburg County)
Corporations Ain’t People (Jackson, Macon, Swain Counties)
Greenpeace, NC
NC WARN
Occupy WNC
The Canary Coalition
The Climate Times
United to Restore Democracy (Asheville, Buncombe County)
Democracy Spring NC
Mountain People's Assembly
Mountain Voices Alliance
Asheville Buncombe Branch of the NAACP

Here's a link to the petition drive kick off press conference:

From what I understand, ballot initiatives in NC are tough to pull off. But if the haters did it a few years ago with Amendment 1 (and then after all their hater efforts, got overturned by a sane court - haha!), then hopefully we can do this against Citizens United. K&R,

It would not actually mean anything if passed. A local or state law cannot override a Supreme Court ruling.
This needs a constitutional amendment or, more reasonably, a few new Justices to rehear this decision that overturned long-established precedent.
