North Carolina
Related: About this forumSo tell me why NC is trending Rmoney
--according to that recent polling map showing ALL the other swing states trending to Obama now--EXCEPT North Carolina.
What's your best guess as to why NC has been yanked backward into the Red Zone so easily?
I'm finding this odd compared to other equally conservative states:

(919 posts)I would bet my right arm that most of the residents watch Fox News. Therefore, they are the most uneducated of the population. That's a fact that has been proven in the past.

(2,649 posts)Obama hate fest on t.v. It's horrible. They run these horrible political ads on what seems like a constant loop and throw in a pro-Obama ad in every once in a while so they can claim impartiality.

(21,794 posts). . .the day AFTER the video leak of Romney.
Suggest we come back next week and see how NC polls after the video leak. We may be pleasantly surprised.

(19,841 posts)which sounds good to me, but I wonder how many average income Rmoney voters are able to get past the spin to figure out what it means...(I'm sure the rich Rmoney-ites are sticking with him...)
We shall see.

(19,841 posts)does NC really have weaker candidates than all those other swing states?
Dunno, still doesn't tell me why NC should be worse off than her peers.

(3,433 posts)had him getting 30% of the African American vote. The other one that has him up substantially was Rasmussen. No one else has him up by more than 4 points. PPP about 10 days ago still had Obama up by one. I do phone banking for Obama here all the time , and I haven't noticed any substantial movement.

(19,841 posts)if NC goes Romney (look like it won't matter in the national picture) but what it means for the State is ominous. I think NC will be seen as a loser by the blue states. Sinking backward into the dark days.

(4,982 posts)It's founder? GROVER NORQUIST: http://atr.org/about - they slam Obama for the lack of recovery and promote TAXLESS corporations ie: claim "the job creators" pay too much in taxes - of course the middle class is taxed into oblivion to pay for the taxes the "job creators" don't.
So there's part of it. Perhaps the Teabaggers and Grover intend to keep NC as their own little red-state playground. And too many NC'linians are buying their crap.

(19,841 posts)I guess there are many reasons why it seems so easy for them to yank the football back. But it doesn't jive with the fact that NC residents are more educated and better informed than people in some states, though the recession has hit hard.
I can't exactly understand how they have done it so easily... I think there's a big push by the Kochs et al to capture the state...

(4,982 posts)IMO. In major papers here, local races - they don't even list the party of the people running. Always thought that really odd. Maybe they do list it now but they didn't used to.
- why not list the party of people running for office?
Tell you what, with a Rethug gov, legislature and the state having gone red in 2012 (and it evidently is) - we're triple-screwed. Economically, environmentally, women and miniorities - everyone. Screwed.
Pfft. I hate living in a red state. Need to move to Cali.

(19,841 posts)Prof Peter Coclanis (UNC Global Research Institute) was quoted:
"We have almost 20 percent more people than we had in 2000,and we've created 0.3 percent more jobs."
He also said:
"The situation is very bleak for much of the population of the state ....I'm not sure that either party has the will to do much about that."
Why???????????????
