North Carolina has lost a marvelous leader--Charles Van Der Horst
I don't know how many DU'ers in the NC group knew Charles Van Der Horst. He was a marvelous physician and leader in social justice causes. Very active in the Moral Mondays movement and great friends with Rev. Dr. Wm. Barber. Charlie was an amazing advocate for social justice.
He was also an avid long distance/marathon swimmer. I have just learned this morning that he went missing in a marathon event in the Hudson River Friday afternoon.
