What Gov. John Kasich's stance on Senate Bill 310 says about his politics -- and what it doesn't say

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Gov. John Kasich is going to sign Senate Bill 310, a measure that will place a two-year freeze on renewable energy standards in Ohio...

...SB 310 would freeze mandates passed in 2008 that give utilities until 2025 to slash customers' power usage by 22 percent and get 25 percent of their power from renewable and advanced technology energy sources. During the freeze, a 12-member legislative study committee would consider changes to the standards.

The bill would also allow large industrial electricity users to opt out of energy efficiency programs and scrap the rule that half of utilities' renewable power, as required by the mandates, must come from in-state sources.

Ohio stands to be the first state to significantly ease such rules. Opponents worry the changes will harm the economy, costing the state alternative-energy jobs. And some of Kasich's critics see in SB 310 another strike against the sensible centrist and compassionate conservative he has portrayed himself as in the last year.... MORE

I think this is the piece of legislation that also gets rid of LEED (Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design) standards for state buildings. I have been
working on a LEED house for the past 1.5 years ..... I am doing the landscaping/
bio filtration/native systems ....... It is a solar home in New Albany, OH and the
homeowner bought a Chevy Volt last fall and he just plugs it into his home and he
has bought ONE TANK OF GAS since last October but the republicans and Kasich
still say "we have to study LEED to see if it works."

I know that LEED works I have been seeing it with my own eyes.

BTW we also have Wood Ducks too.

Please contribute when and where you can. I am going to a Fitzgerald-Bill Clinton fundraiser in Columbus on June 13th thanks to some help with a $100 contribution to his campaign...so I ask that more people my age, I am 24 years old, volunteer, contribute in any and every way possible because a Kasich victory will most likely result in a Kasich 2016 campaign for President and I know it seems far fetched but I believe with Kasich on the Republican ticket in 2016 We would have a hard time keeping Ohio Blue in the 2016 presidential race.

also ask your friends, your family, those close to you if they feel Ohio is heading in the right direction and when their answer is no suggest voting for Ed Fitzgerald as opposed to sitting on the sidelines because it is vital and I mean vital that Democrats turn out in this the 2014 midterm elections across not only this state, but across the nation, I cannot stress the importance of this election, in this state, in this country THIS NOVEMBER!!!

Lets' Get Fired Up Once Again Ohio & Work to bring Change to this State and put the power back in the hands of the middle class, the working families, the Unions, those who deserve healthcare & top notch education, lets make this a state that invest in green energy jobs not chases them away. My fellow Buckeyes it is time we stand up, it is time we show up at the ballot box & cast our vote because our vote is our voice & if we don't raise our voice for change, who will?
