Rob Portman and Ted Strickland face off in final U.S. Senate debate

CLEVELAND, Ohio — U.S. Sen. Rob Portman and former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland each made their final pitch to voters Thursday night as they faced off in the last of their three Senate debates.

Portman, a Republican, leaned on his bipartisan record and his work to end the heroin epidemic. Strickland, his Democratic rival, questioned Portman's work across the aisle. He piggybacked on the presidential race, and criticized Portman's previous support of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Both candidates acknowledged Northeast Ohio's sports streak. Portman called Cleveland "Believeland," while Strickland called it "a city of champions."
