Former Warren auditor sentenced to prison for mailing white powder to former employer

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The former auditor for the city of Warren was sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in federal prison for mailing an envelope with white powder to his former employer after being fired.

Anthony Natale, 38, pleaded guilty June 21 to conveying false information related to the use of a weapon of mass destruction.

Natale mailed the envelope to American Business Center in Youngstown on Nov. 10, 2014, a month after he was fired for not meeting his sales goals.

The city's police, fire department and hazardous-materials team responded after an employee opened the envelope and the powder fell onto his lap. The powder was later determined to not be toxic.
