50th anniversary of Circleville bombing

In 1967, a jealous man took dynamite and went to blow up the drugstore where his wife worked. Five people died (including the bomber) and a town was changed. My dad was a deputy for the sheriff's department and Mom and I had been in town just before the explosion. The daughter of one of the pharmicists who died has recent published a book about the aftermath of "Whe Normal Blew Up" (available on Amazon)

Today's story in the Dispatch:

In the early afternoon of April 15, 1967, Lee Holbrook staggered into Bingman’s Drug Store carrying a wooden box under his arm. It was smoking.

Holbrook headed straight to the pharmacy counter and said he had a bomb. Various newspaper reports and a single, handwritten account in the musty-smelling file at the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office say there was a scuffle, and that store owner and pharmacist Charles Schieber grabbed the box full of bundled dynamite and ran for an exit. Holbrook gave chase. There were more scuffles as pharmacist Ted Foster joined in.

The men never made it outside. At 12:50 p.m., the bomb exploded.

went to 6th. grade in Frankfort. We would take a bus down to Chillicothe to shop about once a month. That was in 1963.
Visited there last year when I was in Ohio.
